LEVEL I PROTECTION CERTIFICATION

– CURRENTLY TRAINING FOR LEVEL II PROTECTION DOG CERTIFICATION

K9 “Who” is a one and a half year old fawn colored intact female Belgian Malinois and born from a direct European import. She is currently certified as a level one protection K9 and undergoing her level two certification. Who has a high prey and defense drive and would make an excellent law enforcement K9 as well. She is very socialized and does well with kids and other dogs.

LEVEL I

Protection Dog Certification

During this program your dog will become proficient in all commands on and off leash such as but not limited to sit, stay, down, heel, (walking by your side), come, no “leave it”, and place. Your dog will enter a structured environment where they will learn to wait and be released patiently for feeding and break times. Dogs will experience multiple socialization techniques such as, but not limited to walks and interactions in public places including stores and heavily populated areas. Dogs will be exposed and proficient in distractions such as other dogs being present, loud noises, surface changes and elevation changes. Dogs will also have any behavioral issues addressed at this time. Those issues may be unique to each dog, so they will be discussed or evaluated between an instructor and the client. Dogs will learn to alert to a decoy on command and alert to threats on their own. Dogs will also learn to apprehend (bite) and release on command while under handler control. Dogs will also be proficient in “recalling” (false deployments where the K9 exhibits control and does not follow through with a apprehension). All commands can be trained in Dutch or German.

Dogs will undergo scenario training, immunity from equipment training and specialized training such as home/building searches, scent detection and tracking.
