A little protection can go a long way

Companionship + Loyalty

Black Ops K9 breeds and trains elite personal protection dogs for civilians, as well as K9 dogs that law enforcement officers use for police work. These dogs are not your everyday backyard pets. Ty Garmany, owner and master K9 instructor, trains each personal protection dog for more than 1,000 hours.

He starts training them as puppies and then releases them when they turn 1. Specific areas of training include distraction skills (gun fire, voices), advanced on- and off-leash obedience, bite work, socialization skills, tracking, and building searches. The dogs are certified to go on airlines and travel with owners to different countries.

Experienced professionals.

Meet our Team

Black Ops K9 was founded in 2012 by Ty Garmany. Born and raised in the area of Lake City Florida, he has continued to serve his community with pride and dedication his entire adult life. Mr. Garmany attended the Florida Gateway College where his passion for Law Enforcement was honed into professionalism. Upon graduation with a degree in Criminal Justice, Mr. Garmany began his career with the Florida Department of Correction, followed by White Springs Police Department, and followed by Jennings Police Department. While serving his community with Jennings Police Department he became a dedicated K9 Officer and excelled in many specialized areas where his love of working dogs ignited and set him on his path to success. Mr. Garmany had the drive and dedication to keep building on his passions and founded Black Ops K9. With proven success over the years Mr. Garmany continually breeds, trains, and provides top quality K9s to individuals, Law Enforcement agencies, and the federal government worldwide. On top of his professional work ethic and dedication Mr. Garmany works every day to set the best example possible to his two young boys and giving them a father they can be proud of. He works hard to balance family and business and be a active member in his local church. Part of that example includes giving back to the community he loves in every way he can. Mr. Garmany has been the presenting sponsor of Fins and Pins; a fundraiser which proceeds support the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranches. Black Ops K9 is also a proud sponsor of the Columbia County Baseball Teams for the Youth.

Scenario-based training

Dylan Shupe-Vice President.

One aspect that separates Black Ops K9 is the scenario-based training that dogs undergo. Some companies take dogs out in the training field and teach them to bite on command or release on command but do not include scenario-based training. Drawing on the situations he has seen as a law enforcement officer, Ty provides scenario-based training like mock chases or someone breaking into a home.

Dylan Shupe joined Black OPS k9 as the Vice President in 2024. He is a dedicated business professional with a strong background in logistics, finance, and supply chain management. With experience as a business consultant, he has consistently delivered measurable results and driven improvement. Having served in the US Army for 7 years and worked in government contracting supply chain management and finance, he brings a unique perspective to his role. Mr. Shupe’s educational background includes a degree from Columbia University and a range of professional certifications, making him well-versed in operational procedures and adept at navigating the intricacies of the business world. Outside of work, he cherishes his role as a loving father to his two young boys and finds fulfillment in his passions for music, soccer, and dining with friends and family.

Completed training

Mastered commands
+ social skills

By the time dogs complete training, they master commands such as sit, stay, down, heel, bite, release, and bark. Ty also takes the dogs out in public to parks and retail stores, help them develop socialization skills and how to differentiate good guys and bad guys.
